TRUMPF CONSUMABLES

Congratulations, you now own the very best metal fabrication machine you can buy! You put it to work and suddenly start wondering how you did business before owning this machine. Then out of nowhere sales people start knocking at your door claiming they have consumable parts that are “just like” TRUMPF’s consumable parts, and they’re cheaper. Sounds appealing, but don’t risk it! Consider these scenarios: If the focus of that similar lens is off by just a little it will cause you to cut slower, and require more tweaking of the focus. Or what if that little nozzle hole is slightly larger, how much more gas are you going to use? What if that tool sticks in the machine and causes a collision? Worse yet, what if the chemicals of that water kit are not correct and you ruin a resonator?

Saving a few dollars may not be worth the risk for your shop. Can you risk stopping or slowing down the machine that usually sees raw material first in the shop?

Here are a couple of examples:

Example 1:
Cost of operation of the machine is: $5.44/hour

  • TRUMPF EASY KITS have a life time of 2000 hrs
  • TRUMPF's average cost for easy kits is approx $300/kit which equals $.15/hr
  • Assuming the competition has chemicals with the same life time of 2000 hrs: Their average cost for easy kits is approx $200/kit which equals $.10/hr. A difference of $.05/hr of the cost of operation of the machine or only $100 per year.

Example 2:
Cost of operation of the machine is: $5.44/hour

  • TRUMPF's LENSES have a life time of 500 hrs
  • TRUMPF’s average cost for lenses is approx $400 which equals $.80/hr
  • Assuming the competition has lenses with the same lifetime of 500 hrs: Their average cost for lenses is approx $320 which equals $.64/hr. A difference of $.16/hr of the cost of the operation of the machine.

Customer applications show that TRUMPF lenses last 50% longer than competitors. Therefore, if we estimate that a machine should have approx 2500 hrs per year, this means that they will use 10 lenses from the competition vs. 5 lenses from TRUMPF. This equals a cost of $3200 from the competition vs. $2000 from TRUMPF.
