Fiber vs Disk Fiber lasers for cutting sheet metal

Fiber vs. Disk Fiber lasers for cutting sheet metal:  Both processes have their advantages but the fact you really need to consider is the level of experience the laser manufacturer has with one micron technology. At Fabtech 2011 almost every laser manufacturer with a booth had a Fiber-delivered laser cutting machine on display. In some cases, the machine at the show was the only machine that manufacturer had built. Some manufacturers showing a fiber-delivered laser at Fabtech have just a few years’ experience under their belts. On the other hand, the key knowledge that customers took away from the show was TRUMPF’s high level of expertise with this technology. TRUMPF has been building one micron lasers since 1995. In addition, TRUMPF is the only manufacturer of metal cutting laser systems on the market today that builds the entire machine themselves, including the resonator, software, etc. and the 1030 Series is built right here in the USA. The 5030 Fiber Series is built in Germany. They have been steadily producing 12 machines per month over the last year with expectations of increasing the numbers dramatically due to high market demands.

Bottom line, all the other laser manufacturers out there are just integrators of technologies. What makes a machine tool manufacturer stand out is service. No competitor in the Midwest can come close to the level of support and experience offered by TRUMPF and Icon Machine Tool. Customers are welcome to visit TRUMPF in Farmington, CT for a complete tour of the manufacturing facility.

Add a lifting device to your press brake

Are you bending large, heavy parts? Do you need multiple operators to bend parts? Have you experienced injuries during the bending process?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you owe it to your company and employees to look at the Lissmac sheet lifting device for press brakes. This device works with most brands of press brakes and the integration is easy. The unit will balance out the weight of the part so the operator can easily swing, rotate, and completely bend the parts with little to no physical effort. Various sizes are available to match the maximum load of the part. Watch the video and see for yourself! Several people at the Fabtech show said this was the most impressive new item at the show.
